In March, Stichting Toets des Tijds presents its yearly Toetsenparade.
The Toetsenparade is a festival celebrating ALL keyboard instruments. The theme of the upcoming edition of the Toetsenparade is “The Keyboard Reinvented” and welcomes Mattias Spee as guest curator and artist in residence.
Keyboard instruments are universally loved for their versatility as they can be found in music from various eras and genres. The modern piano is one of the most played instruments in the world but it also has many relatives! From the harpsichord to a MIDI keyboard, and all the different keyboard instruments in between, if it involves keys, it belongs to the family of keyboard instruments and it could make an appearance at Toetsenparade.
All concerts will focus on a keyboard instrument being played in an unusual way. In this way, the Stichting Toets des Tijds aims to contribute to the innovation and expansion of musical traditions.
The festival is scheduled from Friday March 22 to Sunday March 24. The festival will take place at Werkgebouw het Veem, a monumental warehouse from 1897, right on the IJ in Amsterdam. In our intimate venue, the audience sits close to the musicians during performances. Afterwards, there is an opportunity to meet both each other and the artists in the hall where the festival takes place. Below is a concise overview of the program.
