Game Mechanics was the first session of the How Games Work workshop series from Jana Romanova.
In this first evening, with the example of board games including card games and other games, participants could play at a table, looking at the foundations of game design — game goals, game mechanics, and game dynamics. Participants made a board game prototype, and had the opportunity to observe people playing it, as playtesting is at the core of game design.
