Collaboration Station Description
Organised in collaboration with a multitude of collectives, networks, organisations, unions, artists, theorists and members, Platform BK is excited to announce Collaboration Station: a three day programme including workshops, working sessions, lectures and panel discussions taking place at two locations – Gerrit Rietveld Academie and De Appel in Amsterdam – on November 8, 9 and 10, 2024.
In the face of crises and precarity we can’t emphasise the importance of solidarity and collectivising often enough. In response to local and global societal issues, we see more and more active collectivising happening on multiple levels. However, whilst the understanding of the importance of solidarity is growing, more often than not artists are still portrayed as the individual in their studio. How can we collectivise in the current individualising neoliberal system to face crises and precarity together? What does it mean to collectivise, and how do we work together?
We hope to tackle these questions and to amplify the artist as a collective during this event through the core themes of conflict in collaboration, alternative economies for collective work and unionisation in the cultural field. We invite anyone working in the arts who is interested in discussing and learning more about collectivising to attend. We hope to see you there!
Collaboration Station is made possible by our collaborators Stichting Doen, De Appel, Lumbung Practice Sandberg, Unsettling Rietveld/Sandberg, De Creatieve Coalitie, Hackers & Designers, and Institute of Network Cultures. Design made by Nuno Beijinho.
