Details on how to get involved TBA

Corpi Idrici collective from Genova (Italy) will lead a 2 day workshop leading up to participation in the performance Hydro Bodies Assembly, which will take place on May 9.

The focus of the workshop activity will be collective reading of the lecture performance “Charter of Rights of Hydro Bodies”, drafted by Corpi Idrici. This will be the starting point for a shift in human perspective and behavior towards bodies of water, to stimulate a new awareness of the fundamental role for the present and future of rivers, streams, seas and rainwater. The intention is to consider the rights of these bodies of water at a local level, and hopefully in regional and national legislation.

The workshop, led by multidisciplinary artists and performers, will engage the participants through multi-sensorial exercises, gathering testimonies, creating objects, and awareness-raising activities that will contribute to the collective creation of Hydro Bodies Assembly performance. During the outdoor sessions we will collect sounds and materials, learning more about the aquatic context. We will learn how to relate to the poetic, practical and political plans, discussing amendments to the “Charter of Rights”. The testimonies and sounds collected during the workshop will be reworked to produce a narrative of the experience that will feed into the Hydro Bodies Assembly Podcast, broadcast through Radio Cashmere.
All participants will be credited in the performance and podcast.

What will participants learn?

– ways to reconnect with water territories (via listening sessions, automatic drawing techniques, writing exercises, clay manipulation, photography)
-techniques for exploring and studying aquatic ecosystems
-tools for working with the landscape as a living subject
-methodologies for relating between human and non-human
-each other’s stories
-ways to give voice to environmental, interspecies and intersectional local battles

Participant requirements

Curiosity, willing to be part of a collective process
No need of previous knowledge in the subject
Bring some images, objects, recordings or texts related to water

ABOUT THE PROJECT: TRANSGEOGRAPHICAL HYDRO BODIES

Transgeographical Hydro Bodies is a collaboration of four European partners: Forevergreen (IT), iii (NL), Tenthaus (NO), Cashmere Radio (DE), promoting an innovative way of touring by stimulating critical reflection on the environment through a transdisciplinary artistic approach.

At the heart of the project is the participatory lecture performance ‘Hydro Bodies Assembly’, touring physically and in hybrid form, in the four cities of the partnership: Genoa, The Hague, Oslo, Berlin, and on air. The performance is based on the principles of the Charter of Rights of Hydro Bodies, drafted by Corpi Idrici Collective of artistic research and will be anticipated by a series of workshops led by multidisciplinary artists and performers.  The crucial engagement of local communities through testimonies gathering and awareness-raising activities will contribute to the creation of different versions of ‘Hydro Bodies Assembly’, including context-specific amendments to the Charter. The project includes a hybrid performance, presented live in Berlin and simultaneously broadcast via radio.

ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE

Corpi Idrici is a transdisciplinary collective of artistic research, initiated in Genoa (Italy) in 2021 from the desire to create a shared path of investigation and construction of imagery, offering a sensitive map that brings to light the potential expressed by local hydro bodies, conjoined with community struggles for land defense, possible responses to environmental emergencies, rituals related to water, and the idea that it can represent a creative and vital continuous flow for the future. From 2024 Corpi Idrici is part of the European network Confluence of European Water Bodies.

This presentation is happening with the support of Perform Europe as part of the Transgeographical Hydro Bodies project.
