Starlight that reaches the Earth may carry information about the entire cosmos. Going beyond the visible spectrum, Cosmographies will extend and mesh the senses to unveil light’s journey through the depths of space.
Legendary light artist Felicie d’Estienne D’Orves will offer visual proof of an infinity of worlds, embracing a cosmic perspective of over thirteen billion light-years. Mariska de Groot’s hypnotic performance Stirred Mandala delves into optically induced sound, interference patterns, and the interplay of spiral movements in both body and machine. Jeroen Alexander Meijer will premiere his interactive installation SUN RA harnessing infrared light to beam concentrated heat through space.
Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves
The work of Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves combines light, sculpture and new technologies. Her research focuses on vision, its processes and conditioning. Her immersive installations underscore the perception of time as a continuum. Since 2014, the artist’ researches focused on space in relation to astrophysics and to study the natural light cycles.
Deep Fields
Deep Fields is an optical installation based on a Hubble image of a small region in the constellation of Ursa Major. In this seemingly empty region of the sky, a window of a few millimetres reveals nearly three thousand distant galaxies, embracing a cosmic perspective of over thirteen billion light-years.
Mariska de Groot
Mariska de Groot is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of light, sound, and space. She designs immersive installations where custom-built instruments and tools create dynamic, multisensory environments. Inspired by historical media inventions, her work reimagines these concepts in experimental ways, playing with the boundaries between technology, perception, and space.
Stirred Mandala
Stirred Mandala is a light and sound performance emerging from Mariska’s ongoing research into optical sound. A spinning tone wheel projects intricate patterns onto the floor, forming a luminous, ever-shifting rug of light that becomes an instrument for the performer.
Jeroen Alexander Meijer
Jeroen Alexander Meijer is an interdisciplinary mindscape artist who navigates psychology, philosophy and cognitive science to create interactive experiences that help us become aware of the mysterious properties of our attention. His fascination begins with his own attention deficit disorder (ADD) clashing with the hyper distracting world of today.
SUN RA
SUN RA is an interactive installation harnessing infrared light, a parabolic mirror, and a pan-tilt motor to beam concentrated heat through space. Exploring the parallels between heat, light, and attention—each capable of complete scattering or precise focus—it invites you to feel the intense, unrelenting warmth of being truly seen.
