Philip Vermeulen takes part in the exhibition Turbulentie, curated by Jop Vissers Vorstenbosch, at Omstand, Arnhem. The group exhibition features works by artists who stretch the boundaries of painting, making artworks using other medium than paint, such as light, ceramics, new media, and innovative installation techniques. Part of the exhibition is a publication and an artist-talk at DE.GROEN Collection, Arnhem led by Fenne Saedt.
For this exhibition, Vermeulen shows Colour Field Moiré for the first time: a new kinetic ‘light painting’ that features a unique composition of movements, colours, and patterns—which are carefully crafted to create a mesmerising choreography of the two pieces in sync. This generates a magical and immersive experience that transports the viewer to another world. Colour Field Moiré arises from Philip Vermeulen’s extensive investigation of moiré patterns and their impact on human awareness. Moiré effects are produced by overlaying different layers to create a third, distinct pattern that is perceived as an immaterial shape composed of colour and movement.
