Sissel Marie Tonn presents her first solo show in the Netherlands, titled THE PORTAL, at Radius CCA in Delft. THE PORTAL expands on Sissel’s ongoing artistic research into the bog ecosystems of Northern Europe. Bogs, once awe-inspiring sites of contact with spirits, ancestors and gods, now are threatened ecosystems that are key to counteract ecological decline. Conceived as a sensorial exploration of the bog, THE PORTAL presents new multi-channel video and ceramic work that reflect on the ecosystem’s cultural and ecological entanglements, learning what it is to be human, both in deep past, present, and in speculative futures. The show also includes a new operatic music composition and immersive sound piece composed by Jonathan Reus. 

THE PORTAL opens together with another new exhibition, RADICAL SYMBIOSIS: THE SOCIAL LIFE OF MICROBES with the work of ten artists, running from 2 September onward.
