This is a ticket for attending the Live Coding 101 workshop online. You can also opt to attend online by buying a ticket here.
This is an introduction to live coding real-time music and visuals for absolute beginners. No knowledge of programming required, only a desire to express yourself creatively!
During this 2-day workshop you will receive a crash-course into the world of live coding – programming languages that allow you to create expressive algorithmic music and visuals live. You’ll learn to create music or visuals and different forms of live coding collaboration. You’ll also have the opportunity to perform and improvise with code on stage in a live jam session.
The workshop will be led by Saskia Freeke and Timo Hoogland, and focus on two popular live coding languages: Mercury (for music) and Hydra (for live visuals). The workshop offers sequential mini-workshops focusing on music and visual coding.
The second day ends with an Algorave at the iii workspace, where there will be a spot reserved for you to participate in with a short coding jam!
NOTE: Those who sign up for the online-only workshop will receive a participation link by email on each day of the workshop. Some aspects of the workshop will differ significantly depending on if you join the workshop in person or online.
In-person participants will receive hands-on attention and direct assistance, and online participants will be more limited in terms of collaboration between participants and performing in the Algorave jam session.
