LongStringInstallation invites visitors to lie down in an acoustic chamber that connects piano strings to the trees of the Kloostertuin. While looking at the sky, you can listen to a tonal interplay between strings, trees, and wind.

Connecting us directly with the surrounding environment, LongStringInstallation creates a bodily experience by connecting a resonance body with the movement of the trees in the wind. The 10 to 30 metre long steel strings are vibrated by a feedback loop between electromagnets and electromagnetic sensors. When the trees move in the wind, the string’s tension varies, resulting in a variation in tone and thus an ever-changing composition.
