The Monads is inspired by the ideas of the mathematician and philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716) who assumed that the universe consists of “monads”, invisible elementary particles equipped with a certain degree of consciousness.
Although they appear to act individually, they eventually merge wonderfully into a greater divine plan.
In the installation one can hear sound recordings of wind blowing through tree leaves. A series of rotating speakers create a mix of direct and reflective sounds where the source appears to be closeby and far away.
